STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS FOR HOSPITALITY EVENTS
Thank you for choosing for your event. So that we can give you our best service, please note that your booking is accepted subject to the following conditions:-

1. Orders:
Unless a booking is made on very short notice, it is our policy to write to you confirming the details when these have been agreed. If we do not hear from you to the contrary within 14 days of the date of confirmation, or at least one week before the event if that is earlier, we will presume the details are accepted by you as correct.

2. Numbers:
It helps us if we know as soon as practical what the number of guests is likely to be. After that, please confirm definite numbers with us at least a week in advance: this will be the minimum number of guests you will be charged for on the day. The number of guests can be increased until 24 hours before the event, later by special arrangement.

3. Prices:
Unless we state otherwise, all prices quoted are inclusive of facility fees and staff charges. They do not include the price of equipment hire (e.g. tables/chairs for large parties), flower decorations ordered by you, minerals/juices, or special items such as live music. We do not charge Value Added Tax.

4. Alcohol:
We are not licenced to sell alcoholic liquor. An order to suit your menu and budget can be placed on your behalf with an excellent local wine merchant, Cockburns of Leith (incorporating J.E.Hogg) of 7 Devon Place, Edinburgh EH12 5HJ, who will provide you with a separate account. Mr Hogg there is happy to supply on a sale or return basis, and will deliver and collect orders here. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine, and there is no corkage charge.

5. Cancellations:
You may cancel a confirmed booking without penalty by giving us written notice at least one calendar month in advance. If you have to cancel less than one month, but more than two weeks, in advance we may charge you a cancellation fee of 10% of the basic quoted price for the event. If less than two weeks and more than one week in advance, the cancellation fee may be 30% if less than a week in advance then 50%, and if 24 hours or less 100%. If we incur cancellation charges for any special features you have asked for, these will be added to the fee.

6. Smoking;
For the safety, health and comfort of your guests, there is a strict no smoking policy in the Stevenson House.

7. Damage;
The cost of repair or replacement of damage or breakages caused by members of your party may be charged at our discretion.

8. Payment;
All accounts are due and payable within fourteen days from the date of the account, unless some other written arrangement has been agreed before the account is issued. We may charge interest on sums not paid by that date at Bank of Scotland Base Lending Rate from time to time plus 4% from the date of the account until payment.

This list is meant only to illustrate the most important of our terms or business, and each event is unique, so they may be varied by specific agreement.
